The first territory a person must govern is the space within himself. Emotion carries information, but it must never be permitted to seize command. It's no secret that in business emotions run at an all- time high, whether it be sales, investments, or presenting an idea, but most of the time when the emotions are not in check, as humans we tend to make more mistakes. Now, it is impossible to remove your feelings, but you can ground them to make sound decisions.
In business, emotional steadiness protects judgment. A leader can acknowledge disappointment, pressure, or excitement without allowing any of them to determine the next decision. Calm creates the room in which facts, people, and consequences can be seen clearly.
Closing thirty-four land deals taught me to listen without forcing the outcome. Some calls moved forward and others did not. My responsibility was to understand the person, explain the value honestly, and remain disciplined through uncertainty. That experience taught me that emotion is not an abstract idea; it is a practice made visible through decisions.
